In the background you can see the headwaters of the Arkansas River, one of the most beautiful rivers in the country, which winds its way through the states of Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.
This was from the Leadville train which takes you from Leadville, an old mining community and the highest town in the U.S., to Climax, up the mountain at almost 11,000 feet, a trip of about 13 miles.
Colorado in Color presents a series of photos, most of which were taken in September and November of 2010. Southwestern Colorado is featured, offering glimpses of the Great Sand Dunes, Gunnison, Leadville, the Royal Gorge, etc.
The photographs were taken primarily by myself and my wife, Lois Anne and are copyrighted by L & L Photography. All rights are reserved.
We have, as of February 2013, added our daughter, Denise Jelonek, a resident of Colorado, as a contributor to this blog. She is an excellent photographer and has many beautiful photographs to share.
Enjoy!
