A police car hiding behind the Country Bounty sign - in Salida

And the funny thing is, there's no policeman in the car! But people automatically slow down when they see it!

The Sangre de Cristo mountains from Spruce Basin (c. 9000 ft), Cotopaxi

Early morning in the east from Spruce Basin

They are not called the Rocky Mountains for nothing...

Early evening settling over the Sangres.

Looking west from Spruce Basin.

Snow on the Sangres.

A slivery, silvery moon...

Sunrise...

Sunset...

Lucky

Lucky is full-grown, but a small cat. Lucky wandered onto our daughter's property after roaming the mountains for six months. Lucky was pregnant, scared, dirty, and had desperate need of a vet. Lucky disappeared. Then reappeared. But no kittens.

Today, with the assistance of a local vet and lots of love, Lucky is full of vim and vigor; the picture of health. She is still feisty and still wanders around the mountain, but always comes home.

Not much frightens her in the animal kingdom. Except for unfamiliar humans.

Strange buffalo

We found this very strange buffalo wandering the streets of old "historic" Salida...

Thank you all for your comments and expressions of concern. Our daughter is home and doing well. We have also recovered from whatever it was that bit us. And now, we're en route to Florida. Should be home in a couple of days.

Sangre de Cristo mountain range

The Sangre de Cristo mountains from our daughter's front yard.

As most of you know, we recently flew to Colorado to be with our daughter who was recovering from major surgery. She is improving and doing well. Ironically, about 36 hours ago, I contracted what is euphemistically called a "food-borne" disease, but should be more accurately termed "gastro-intestinal hell"! I'm improving, too, but it will be awhile before we're back home and back to normal. At that time, I'll do my best to catch up on your blogs and commenting.

Thank you for your various expressions of concern and care. This is a great blogging community of which to be a part.

En route - Ocala to Colorado

I know this isn't a Colorado picture per se, but we were en route and I like it - done with a fisheye effect.
