Salida Mail -- must refer to the newspaper?

Dad worked at the old Manhattan Hotel right by the bridge. (Did you get a chance to eat there and watch the river traffic?) It was his job to see that each train had a full crew; if not, he ran to the hotel room and woke up the missing member. The big turn-around at the end of the street was part of the round house area where the trains were turned around and headed back out. Sheesh -- I think I just aged by about 30 years. :p
