Dad worked at the old Manhattan Hotel right by the bridge. (Did you get a chance to eat there and watch the river traffic?) It was his job to see that each train had a full crew; if not, he ran to the hotel room and woke up the missing member. The big turn-around at the end of the street was part of the round house area where the trains were turned around and headed back out. Sheesh -- I think I just aged by about 30 years. :p
Colorado in Color presents a series of photos, most of which were taken in September and November of 2010. Southwestern Colorado is featured, offering glimpses of the Great Sand Dunes, Gunnison, Leadville, the Royal Gorge, etc.
The photographs were taken primarily by myself and my wife, Lois Anne and are copyrighted by L & L Photography. All rights are reserved.
We have, as of February 2013, added our daughter, Denise Jelonek, a resident of Colorado, as a contributor to this blog. She is an excellent photographer and has many beautiful photographs to share.
Enjoy!
