The Royal Gorge - Canon City

The Royal Gorge is gorgeous! The bridge is magnificent, even if it gives me the "willies." If you look carefully, you will see the railroad running alongside the river at the bottom of the Gorge. We will be posting other photos of the Royal Gorge tomorrow and in the future.

Good Lord (I'm being regal here). How absolutely splendid. Breathtaking actually. But why in heaven's name is it called Royal? 1806 and America was already independent... Was the name given by some English or Scottish or French or French Canadian mountain men?

Excellent post, Jacob. True beauty. what a super bridge. It would give me the 'willies' too. Did you walk all the way across? And look down? Yikes!! I see the railroad and the river. WOW!!! MB

I am at a loss for words, those pictures are so spectacular. I would be a little nervous on that bridge, but I would cross it anyway!

I've been there, I've been there!!! I went w/ my grandparents the summer of 84 - I was 14 yrs old! I got to pat a live deer on the side of the road on the way there. Then we rode one of those mini trains that extended out over the edge of the cliff. That's an awesome place & yes, very beautiful!!!

Did you ride the arial tram or drive across the bridge? It isn't for people scared of heights, so my guess is no. :) My mom won't ride them either.

But wait! In that first photo you had to have been directly in the center area of the bridge. Maybe you did it after all! :)
