Very hardy people to whack through the mountains, and very hardy plants to find a little crack and hang onto it. Amazing country! It almost looks like a mountain cat sitting there in the shade -- the way the sun hits on the left among the trees. It hardly takes any imagination!
Thank you for stopping by; I always enjoy your comments! By the way, my traveling companion kept her face buried in a pillow the entire time we went over Monarch! Good thing it wasn't her turn to drive. :)
I never did take a train when I lived in Colorado, and I'm sure I would have liked this one. By the way, I believe John Day was not only lost, but also crazy.
It is truly amazing. the rocks fascinate me. Imagine cutting through them without all the modern machinery we have now. WOW! Did the train go Choo Chooooooooo? MB
Colorado in Color presents a series of photos, most of which were taken in September and November of 2010. Southwestern Colorado is featured, offering glimpses of the Great Sand Dunes, Gunnison, Leadville, the Royal Gorge, etc.
The photographs were taken primarily by myself and my wife, Lois Anne and are copyrighted by L & L Photography. All rights are reserved.
We have, as of February 2013, added our daughter, Denise Jelonek, a resident of Colorado, as a contributor to this blog. She is an excellent photographer and has many beautiful photographs to share.
Enjoy!

A tribute to American railroads.
News here okay but I'm rushed off my feet.
Awesome... This is so far from what I see around here...
Marvellous place!
Now this is a great scenery!
Is that red lichen on the rock? For a photo on the run, that's impressively clear, Jacob!
